Overview
This eight-week workshop introduces the foundational techniques of wheel throwing, guiding students through the process of forming clay on the potter’s wheel.
Participants will work through the full cycle of ceramic making — wedging, centering, forming vessels, trimming, glazing, and firing — developing familiarity with the material and the rhythm of the wheel. The course emphasizes repetition and observation as students build confidence shaping clay into functional forms.
Working in stages over the course of the term, students will create a series of cups, bowls, and small vessels while learning how each step contributes to the finished piece.
What You’ll Work On
– Wedging and preparing clay bodies
– Centering and pulling walls
– Form development (cups, bowls, and basic vessels)
– Trimming and refining form
– Glazing and firing
Who It’s For
Open to beginners as well as returning students who want to strengthen their throwing practice.
Tuition $360 includes:
• Studio tools and equipment
• Glazes and firings
• 12.5 lb clay
Additional clay available for purchase.
Limited to 4 participants
Studio may photograph workshops and residents unless requested otherwise.
