Overview
In this class, students will learn how to coil clay pots with their hands while using meditation in action. Meditation in action is the process of being fully present in the current moment, focusing on simply the breath and the current task, which is coiling clay in a quiet and peaceful environment. The result will be a feeling of internal calmness, and a beautifully organic coiled clay pot.
This class will best benefit those who find they need a break from business, overwhelm, or to reconnect with themselves and the Earth.
What You’ll Work On
– Coil and slab construction techniques
– Developing vessels and sculptural forms
– Surface experimentation and texture
– Glaze testing and finishing work
– Independent project development
Who It’s For
Open to beginners as well as returning students interested in developing their ceramic practice over a longer term.
Tuition $350 includes:
• Studio tools and equipment
• Glazes and firings
• 12.5 lb clay
Additional clay available for purchase.
Studio may photograph workshops and residents unless requested otherwise.
