Overview
In this class, students will explore the art of hand-building sculptural forms using clay. Whether you want to explore creating human figures, fruit studies, animals, or abstract compositions, this class encourages creativity and personal expression. Students will learn foundational sculpting techniques, such as building solid and hollow forms, proportions, adding texture and surface details, while gaining a better understanding of three dimensional design.
Projects are completely open-ended and can be tailored to each student's interests and experience level, making this class suitable for all ages and experience levels. Individual guidance will help students develop their own artistic voice while strengthening technical skills
What You’ll Work On
– Coil, slab, and pinch construction techniques
– Building and joining clay forms
– Creating vessels, sculptural forms, and functional objects
– Refining structure and surface
– Glazing and firing finished work
Who It’s For
Open to beginners as well as returning students interested in developing their ceramic practice over a longer term.
Tuition $350 includes:
• Studio tools and equipment
• Glazes and firings
• 12.5 lb clay
Additional clay available for purchase.
Studio may photograph workshops and residents unless requested otherwise.
